These instructions are for a new MINIX PC or one being re-imaged.
  1. Setup the device
    1. Connect the device to:
      1. Keyboard
      2. Power
      3. Ethernet
      4. Monitor via HDMI
  2. Create bootable media to install OS
    1. Copy the ISO file from storage1 to your computer (not the MINIX)
      1. storage1.biola.edu/software/Biola Software/....Software/Digital Signage\digital_signage-18.04.iso
    2. Get a USB key that's at least 4GB and connect to the same computer
    3. Open Rufus and use that to create a bootable USB drive from the ISO
      1. Device - the USB drive
      2. Boot Selection - the ISO file
      3. Partition scheme - MBR
      4. Target system - BIOS or UEFI
      5. Volume Label - leave default
      6. File system - FAT32
      7. Cluster size - leave default
    4. Take the USB key and connect it to the MINIX
  3. Set BIOS settings
    1. Boot the device and press F11 to enter boot menu. 
    2. Select system setup and set the following:
      1. BIOS password (lastpass)
      2. auto-on time
      3. power recovery
    3. Save and Exit with Restart
  4. Image the MINIX
    1. Boot the device and press F11 to enter boot menu. 
    2. Select the USB key you created and press enter
    3. After it boots, it will show a screen with options
      1. Select "Install" and press Enter
      2. It will go through all the steps from there
      3. It will shutdown when its done
  5. Gather Information
    1. Get the MAC address of the device - on a sticker on the bottom of the MINIX
    2. Have Network Services create a DNS reservation for the sign using the MAC address
      1. Similar to how we do printers
      2. in the .signage.biola.edu domain
      3. The DNS name will match the location of the sign, i.e. sigmachi.signage.biola.edu
      4. Get the IP address they assign the DNS address
    3. Send the information in a ticket to the System Administrators
      1. Schedule a time with them to deploy the hardware.
  6. Deploy Hardware
    1. Deploy the Minix to the location, connecting power and HDMI to the digital sign.
    2. Power on the Minix, it should boot to the Ubuntu login screen.
    3. Inform the sysadmin that the hardware is in place.
      1. The sysadmin will deploy the configuration to the Minix remotely, which takes about 5 minutes.
    4. Verify that the sign is working.
