1Start your meeting from a location or room which is going to have minimal background noise. Furthermore, if your meeting agenda includes topics that are confidential, you may prefer to sit in a private room.
2If possible use a good headset. If that isn’t an option, do your best to make sure you aren’t going to be adding a lot of noise to the meeting. You may need to turn off your fan, close a window or whatever else you have to do to keep your environment quiet. Sound quality matters – it is even more important than video quality.
4If you are in a meeting room, connect your computer to the meeting room equipment.

1Turn on the TV.
2Change the TV input to Vaddio or Camera, whichever is available.
3Plug the HDMI or VGA cable into your computer.

If necessary, press the    button to switch between HDMI and VGA.
5Plug the USB cable from the base station into your computer.

Connect to the video meeting.

Press the    button repeatedly until it displays what you want to show.

1Once the meeting loads, a pop-up window will ask how you'd like to connect your computer audio. From here, click Join and use a phone for audio.
2Click Dial In, note the meeting phone number and access code on the pop-up window and select your desired call method (dial in or call me).

Note:

  • This meeting call session and PIN will only be usable while this specific meeting is active. It will disable once the meeting has been ended.
  • At this point, you can close your browser or computer and the meeting will remain active.
5Invite your meeting participants.Send the meeting phone number, access code and start time to your desired meeting participants.

These are instructions on how to set up Zoom meetings and publish them in Canvas, how to create an impromptu Zoom Meeting from the classroom, and how to update Canvas with a previously created Zoom meeting.

Zoom Room (on request only)

Zoom Webinar

Zoom Webinar facilitates live video broadcasting to large groups with limited returned participant interaction. Biola has access to 1 Zoom Webinar license, which is overseen by EMC's University Events office.

To request a Zoom Webinar event, have a department admin submit an event request on 25Live. More information on the Webinar Request process can be found in this My Biola article.

Zoom App Marketplace

Zoom Marketplace apps enhance other services by integrating Zoom's service into them. For example, Google has a third-party app that can Create Zoom Meetings from Connect Your Zoom Account to Your Google Calendar from calendar.google.com.

Who can Request App Approval?

  • Faculty
  • Staff

How to Request App Approval:

  • Email the it.helpdesk@biola.edu and state the following:
    • The name of the marketplace app you are requesting to be approved.
    • What you intend to use the marketplace app for.

Once you've sent the email, your request will be reviewed to determine how Biola data is shared with and stored with the third-party app vendor to ensure IT data security. We will then reply to let you know if we can approve the app.

Zoom Sub Accounts

Biola can create nested sub accounts under its master account that contain similar settings and functionality to a full-fledged account. It can allow an account to function according to HIPAA best practices. It can also allow delegation of certain Zoom management activities to department users designated and trained to manage the Sub Account.

Zoom Sub Accounts are reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon request and should only be created by necessity. To request the creation of a Zoom Sub Account, please do the following:

  • Email the IT Helpdesk at it.helpdesk@biola.edu and explain 1) what you are trying to accomplish and 2) why a Zoom Sub Account is the only way you can achieve your objective.
