This page explains how to make a classroom projector show your computer's screen.
Video Connectors
Before connecting, make sure you know what the different connectors look like.

If your computer doesn't have a port to match one of these connectors, you'll need to use the video adapter that IT gave you when you received your Biola computer.
Audio Connectors

No additional audio connector is needed for HDMI. | If you're using an HDMI-to-VGA adapter with a Windows computer, make sure to enable sound through the 1/8-inch cable. |
Control Panels
Not all classrooms have the same control panel. The three types of control panels are shown below.

How to Connect a Laptop to a Projector - Extron and Russell Systems
Step | What to Do |
---|---|
1 | Plug the VGA or HDMI cable into your computer. Use a video adapter if necessary. |
2 | Walk over to the control panel and push the proper video button:

3 | If you're using an Extron control panel, push the ON button to turn on the projector. You should now see video on the projector. |
4 | When you're done with your presentation, push the OFF or Projector Off button on the control panel. |
How to Connect a Laptop Using HDMI or VGA - Crestron System
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |

1 | Tap the touch panel to power on the AV system. | |
2 | Tap to select HDMI Laptop or VGA Laptop. The projector screen will lower from the ceiling. | |
3 | Plug the HDMI or VGA cable into your computer. Use a video adapter if necessary. | |
4 | When you're done with your presentation, tap the power off button. | |
5 | Tap Yes to confirm system shutdown. |
How to Connect a Laptop Using AirMedia - Crestron System
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |
---|---|---|
1 | Tap the touch panel to power on the AV system. | |
2 | Tap to select AirMedia. The projector screen will lower from the ceiling. | |
3 | Make note of the IP address and Code listed on the projector screen. | |
4 | Run the AirMedia application. If a warning window appears, click OK. Don't have AirMedia installed? To download and install AirMedia, see How to Download the AirMedia Application. | |
5 | Fill out the fields in the login window.

6 | Click Connect. | |
7 | Click the pause button if you want to freeze the screen so that viewers can't see what you're doing on your computer. Click the stop button to disconnect from AirMedia. | |
8 | When you're done with your presentation, tap the power off button. | |
9 | Tap Yes to confirm system shutdown. |
How to Manually Raise or Lower the Projector Screen
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |

1 | Press the settings button. | |
2 | Press the Up or Down button to control the screen. Note: You should not turn the projector on and off from here. | |
3 | Tap one of the input source buttons to exit the settings screen. Example: If you're already using HDMI, tap the HDMI laptop button. |
