Video Connectors
Before connecting, make sure you know what the different connectors look like.

If your computer doesn't have a port to match one of these connectors, you'll need to use the video adapter that IT gave you when you received your Biola computer.
Audio Connectors

Not all classrooms have the same control panel. The three types of control panels are shown below.

How to Connect a Laptop to a Projector (Extron and Russell Systems)
Step | What to Do |
---|---|
1 | Plug the VGA or HDMI cable into your computer. Use a video adapter if necessary. |
2 | Walk over to the control panel and push the proper video button:

3 | If you're using an Extron control panel, push the ON button to turn on the projector. You should now see video on the projector. |
4 | When you're done with your presentation, push the OFF or Projector Off button on the control panel. |
How to Connect a Laptop Using HDMI or VGA (Crestron System)
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |

1 | Tap the touch panel to power on the AV system. | |
2 | Tap to select HDMI Laptop or VGA Laptop. The projector screen will lower from the ceiling. | |
3 | Plug the HDMI or VGA cable into your computer. Use a video adapter if necessary. | |
4 | If you're using VGA, plug in the 1/8-inch audio cable. Note Audio will not work unless you also have the VGA video cable plugged in. For this reason, iPod audio will not play through the 1/8-inch cable. | |
5 | When you're done with your presentation, tap the power off button. | |
6 | Tap Yes to confirm system shutdown. |
How to Connect a Mac Laptop Using AirMedia (Crestron System)
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |
---|---|---|
1 | Tap the touch panel to power on the AV system. | |
2 | Tap to select Wireless Laptop. The projector screen will lower from the ceiling. | |
3 | Take note of the IP address and Code listed on the projector screen. | |
4 | Run the AirMedia application. If a warning window appears, click OK. Don't have AirMedia installed? To download and install AirMedia, see How to Download the AirMedia Application. | |
5 | Enter the AirMedia's IP address into the search field, then click Connect. | |
6 | Click on the AirPlay menu in the system bar, and select the AirMedia unit you're connecting to. Tip: The name of the AirMedia unit is listed in the upper left corner of the Creston screen showing on the TV. | |
7 | When prompted, enter the code that you noted earlier. | |
8 | If you want to use the TV as a separate (non-mirrored) display, click on the AirPlay menu, and select Use As Separate Display. | |
9 | When you're done presenting, click on the AirPlay menu again, and select Turn AirPlay Off. | |
10 | Tap the power off button on the touchpanel. | |
11 | Tap Yes to confirm system shutdown. |
How to Connect a Windows Laptop Using AirMedia (Crestron System)

3 | Take note of the IP address and Code listed on the Crestron information screen. | |

5 | Enter the AirMedia's IP address into the search field, then click Connect. | |
6 | When prompted, enter the code that you noted earlier. | |
7 | If you want to use the TV as a separate (non-mirrored) display, click on the Primary menu, and select Extended. | |
8 | When you're done presenting, click on the Stop icon. You can close the AirMedia application. | |
9 | Tap the power off button on the touchpanel. | |
10 | Tap Yes to confirm system shutdown. |
How to Connect a Laptop Using Solstice (Crestron System)
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |

1 | Tap the touch panel to power on the AV system. | |
2 | Tap to select Wireless Laptop. The projector screen will lower from the ceiling. | |
3 | Take note of the IP address and Key listed on the projector screen. | |
4 | Enter the IP address in a web browser (like Chrome or Firefox). | |
5 | Click Get the App & Join. This will download the Solstice client app. | |
6 | Open the Solstice client app that you downloaded. | |
7 | Click on the Enter IP tab. | |
8 | Enter the IP address that was listed on the screen. | |
9 | Click Go. | |
10 | When prompted, enter the key that was listed on the screen, and click OK. | |
11 | Choose what you want to share on the screen. | |
12 | Make sure Desktop Audio is turned on. | |
12 | When you're done presenting, click Stop Sharing, and then click Disconnect. | |
13 | When prompted, click Yes to confirm. | |
14 | To shut down the AV system, tap the power off button. | |
15 | Tap Yes to confirm system shutdown. |
How to Manually Raise or Lower the Projector Screen (Crestron System)
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |

1 | Tap the Settings button. | |
2 | Tap the Up or Down button to control the screen. Warning You should ordinarily not turn the projector on and off from here. Instead, shut the whole system down when you're done, using the red power button in the lower left corner. | |
3 | Tap the Close button to exit the settings screen. Example: If you're already using HDMI, tap the HDMI laptop button. |
