Introduction


This troubleshooting should resolve issues that may arise due to unfamiliarity with the room equipment. If the issue continues, IT can deploy a mobile Classroom Tech cart (equipped with speakers and a projector) as a temporary workaround until the issue can be resolved.

Confirm the appropriate cable and/or adapter is connected.

  • HDMI carries audio and video. This is the preferred connection type.

Make sure the desired video output option is selected on the room’s touch panel (see pictures below).

Crestron:

  • Press either HDMI Laptop or VGA Laptop.

Extron:

  1. Press Display On.
  2. Press Laptop (VGA) or Laptop 2 (HDMI).

Confirm the desired display arrangement is selected.

  • Mirrored Display makes the laptop and projector screen show the same image.

  • Extended Display causes the projector screen to function as a separate screen from the laptop.

  1. Click on the Apple icon on the top left of the computer and select System Preferences...

  2. Click on Displays.

  3. Click the Arrangement tab and select or deselect Mirror Displays (as desired).
4Connect the computer to the podium piece by piece.
  1. Unplug everything from the computer.
  2. Plug the audio/video adapter into the computer.
  3. Wait 5 seconds.
  4. Plug the HDMI cable into the audio/video adapter.

  1. Right-click on your desktop.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Display Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Multiple Displays.
  4. Select the display arrangement you desire from the drop-down menu.
4Connect the computer to the podium piece by piece.
  1. Unplug everything from the computer.
  2. Plug the audio/video adapter into the computer.
  3. Wait 5 seconds.
  4. Plug the HDMI cable into the audio/video adapter.

Confirm the volume is turned up and not muted on the touch panel.

Crestron:

  1. Tap the speaker icon on the top of the volume slider bar until it is all the way up.

  2. Make sure the Audio mute button is not highlighted.

Extron: 

  1. Turn the volume knob up to an appropriate level. 

  2. Make sure the Mute button is not engaged.

Confirm the correct audio settings are selected in the computer's System Preferences.
  1. Click on the Apple icon on the top left of the computer and select System Preferences...

  2. Click on Sound.

  3. Click the Output tab and select your desired audio output.

  1. Click on the Windows icon in the bottom left-hand corner, or the Windows Key on your keyboard.

  2. Type in "Sound Playback Options" and hit enter.

  3. Select your desired Audio Output Device from the drop down menu .
