Google Backup and Sync is a data backup app built for Mac and PC. Users can choose if they would like to back up photos and files from their computer to their Google Drive and/or sync the contents of their Google Drive to their computer. Files synced to a computer from Google Drive will take up computer hard drive space.


Google Backup & Sync Key Features

  • Files are automatically and securely backed up to Google Drive.
  • The entirety of the user's folder is backed up by default.
  • Only operating system, program, and application files are excluded from the backup.
  • Real-time backups will save file changes when they are made.
  • Files deleted from a computer hard drive can be left in Google Drive if desired.
  • Files deleted in Google Drive can be recovered up to 30 days later.
  • Users can access backed-up files from their Google Drive in a browser.
  • Users can restore files at any time without the assistance of IT Helpdesk staff.
  • Backed-up data is encrypted and then transmitted for storage in Google Drive.
  • Unlimited data storage in Google Drive.
