Microsoft Windows Hello is a personal, secure way to sign in to your Biola managed PC using a PIN number, facial recognition, or a fingerprint scanner instead of your password. If you choose to continue using your password, you can. New Dell computers purchased during the summer of 2023 will have a fingerprint reader for taking advantage of Windows Hello. For computers without the fingerprint reader, your webcam will support facial recognition.

On June 5th, 2023 Biola IT will remotely and silently roll out Windows Hello to currently deployed and new computers. When Windows Hello is remotely applied to your computer, it will prompt you to register the next time you sign in.

Follow these steps to complete the registration:

  1. Confirm that you are ready to create a PIN.
  2. You will be prompted to sign into your Azure AD account (email and password), and provide Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  3. Set the PIN to something that you will easily remember.  If you ever forget your PIN, sign in with your password instead and reset it.

To enable facial recognition or a fingerprint scanner as a sign in method:

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  2. Under Ways to Sign in, select Facial recognition (Windows Hello) or Fingerprint (Windows Hello).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Windows Hello.
