These instructions are for a new mac mini or recently refreshed mac mini with only the OS.
  1. Create Your Account
    1. Enter these details at the Create Your Account screen during the setup process:
      1. Full Name: Dig Sig
      2. Account Name: digsig
      3. Password: [see password list]
  2. Change Computer Name
    1. Open System Preferences > Sharing
    2. Set Computer Name to the computers inventory number found on a label on the machine
    3. Restart the computer
  3. Configure Energy Saver Settings
    1. Open System Preferences > Energy Saver
    2. Set Computer sleep to Never
    3. Set Display sleep to Never
    4. Uncheck Allow power button to put the computer to sleep
    5. Check Start up automatically after a power failure
  4. Configure Screen Saver
    1. Open System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver
    2. Click the Screen Saver tab
    3. Set Start screen saver to Never
  5. Disable Bluetooth
    Prevents OS X from automatically starting the Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse window when no keyboard or mouse is detected
    1. Open System Preferences > Bluetooth
    2. Click the Advanced button
    3. Uncheck Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup when no input device is present
  6. Configure Audio Settings
    1. Open System Preferences > Sound
    2. Click the Output tab
    3. Select HDMI
  7. Configure Software Updates
    1. Open System Preferences > Software Update
    2. Uncheck Check for updates
  8. Configure Remote Access
    1. Open System Preferences > Sharing
    2. Check Remote Login
    3. Check Remote Management
    4. Click the Options button
    5. Check these options under All local users can access this computer to:
      1. Observe
      2. Control
      3. Open and quit applications
      4. Change settings
      5. Delete and replace items
      6. Restart and shut down
      7. Copy items
    6. Select Only these users under Allow access for
    7. Add Dig Sig
    8. Click the Computer Settings button
    9. Check VNC veiwers may control screen with password and type in the VNC password (from the password list)
  9. Install Cursor Hiding Program
    1. Download Cursorcerer
    2. Install it for All users on this computer
    3. Open System Preferences > Cursorcerer
    4. Set Hide idle cursor after to 10 seconds
    5. Set Toggle cursor hotkey to (None)
  10. Install the Digital Signage Client
    1. Download the Digital Signage Player
    2. Install the client to /Applications
  11. Configure the Digital Signage Client
    1. Find the Data Feed URL for the appropriate sign on apps.biola.edu/signage
    2. Enter the URL into the Data URL field and click Load
  12. Configure Start Up
    1. Open System Preferences > Accounts
    2. Click Login Options
    3. Set Automatic login to Dig Sig
    4. Click the Options... button
    5. Select Only these network users
    6. Click Dig Sig > Login Items
    7. Make sure the Digital Signage client app is in the list of start up items.
