Marc Newman (Communication '82) is the co-founder and president of MovieMinistry.com.

Education

After graduating from Biola University in 1982, Newman went on to earn the M.A. at Louisiana State University and a Ph.D. at Regent University, studying communication with emphasis in film.http://www.movieministry.com/about.php

Academic Career

Newman has worked as a college and university professor for over 20 years. He taught at the University of California - Irvine and was the former director of Speech and Debate. He is also Professor of Speech and the ASL Language Department at Palomar College. He founded the Speak-A-Thon Fundraiser when he was the Speech Team director there. In addition, he taught media criticism at Vanguard University. He wrote the chapter "Communicating Religious Values in the Screenplays of Horton Foote" in the textbook A Rhetorical Analysis of Popular American Film. According to the Biola Connections magazine, his doctoral thesis on transcendence and redemption in film won Dissertation of the Year from the Religious Communication Association.http://www.biola.edu/news/biolamag/downloads/Spring_2003.pdf.

Media Work
