Introduction

This page explains the contents of a large audio kit, available for rental from the Tech Commons in the Library.


Purpose

The Fender Passport portable PA system, with the accompanying equipment we provide, is ideal for sizeable indoor or moderate outdoor events that require amplified speaking/singing. It is also possible to plug an acoustic guitar, keyboard, computer, or iPod directly into the system for musical accompaniment.

How to Set It Up

StepWhat to DoHow It Looks
1Unlatch the speakers from the main unit, and place them on the provided stands.
2Plug the provided power cord from the main unit into an outlet.
3Plug the speaker cables from the speaker output on the main unit into the inputs on the bottom-right-front of each speaker.
4Attach microphones to the provided stands.
5Run an XLR cable from each microphone to an available input on the main unit.
6If desired, plug the provided audio cable into the ⅛” Stereo Input on the main unit, then connect it to your laptop, iPod, phone, etc.

Audio Controls

Each input channel has independent Volume, Treble, Bass, and Reverb controls, as well as optional phantom power

Some channels also have an instrument input button that makes that channel act like a DI box, where you can plug an instrument directly into the system.
