Joseph graduated in 1918. He first went out to work in the oil fields of California. In this work of taking the Gospel house to house he writes "I think God every day for the instruction I received at the B. I." A few years later he when to E. San Diego Baptist Church, where great things happened. He writes in 1921, "I have been here in E. San Diego Baptist Church a little more than a year, the church and Sunday School have increased more than one hundred percent, and we are praising the Lord for his wonderful blessings to us.
