Biola's new VoIP phone system adds a computer-based phone application called Cisco Jabber to be used instead of – or in addition to – the physical phone handset on your desk. Collaborate more securely and effectively from anywhere in a tool that brings together presence (work status), instant messaging, audio, video and web conferencing, enterprise voice, and visual voicemail into one client on your desktop.
Directory enhancements
There are new ways of finding and contacting employees using the new VoIP phone system. Search for employees and immediately initiate a call using the corporate directory on the VoIP phone or by searching from within Cisco Jabber.
Search for offices and contacts using the new Biola Web Directory at http://www.biola.edu/directory/.
Instant messaging
Use Cisco Jabber to chat with other employees who are also online with Cisco Jabber.
Presence
See presence status (available / away / on a call) of contacts on your phone and in Cisco Jabber.
Video calling
Using Cisco Jabber and your computer's camera, you now have the option of placing video calls to other Biola employees also using the Cisco Jabber application.
Visual voicemail
Use Cisco Jabber to interact with your voicemail in list form, right within the application. Voicemail messages can be played, deleted, or returned easily from your computer.
