About the User...
Karen Ruth Myers' Jewish identity comes through her grandmother, Ellen, a Holocaust survivor. (Ellen came to faith in Jesus years later in the United States after living as an atheist.) Myers grew up in Houston, Texas and Wichita, Kansas, aware of both her Jewish roots and her family’s messianic belief. But when her Jewish cousin Jacob died at the age of three, she was struck with the fear that she might die and not go to heaven, so she gave her life to the Jewish Messiah.
Myers' faith in Y’shua (Jesus) has guided her through a 15-year rich professional background. Having served vocationally in a litigation firm, publishing company, radio network, and pro-life ministry; she possesses extensive experience in legal research, public information analysis, research, media management, sales, events planning, community relations, journalism and development advising. Volunteer efforts include directing successful petition drives, evangelistic campaigns and special-interest lobbying.
Myers' favorite job? It’s actually not a job at all: “Talking to people about Y’shua – and talking to Y’shua about people.”
Recognized internationally for her work in Jewish evangelism, Myers has volunteered on nine Jews for Jesus campaigns and is a Co-Laborer with JFJ in Los Angeles. She spent the last two summers serving as volunteer coordinator for the Messianic Assembly Camps in Jerusalem.
Myers is currently a cadet in the Torrey Honors Institute as well as a senior finishing her degree in History (with a minor in journalism) from Biola University in La Mirada, California, where she resides. In addition to coordinating university events and fundraisers, she writes a weekly staff opinion column for the Chimes and works in audio archives for the Apologetics Department.
She describes her other interests as reading, cooking, and talking with people.
A Quote from Karen...
I chose my user name "warmprickly" because of a memorable childhood routine. When I was a kid, my dad would tuck me in at night and ask me this question: "Which would you rather have, Karen? A warm prickly or cold fuzzy?" I'd wrinkle my nose and say, "Neither, Daddy." At the time I didn't understand why he asked such a ludicrous question - but now I understand he was preparing me for the tough choices of life.
