Bible readings (sometimes hyphenated "Bible-readings")is a technical term referring to a practice of linking several passages of Scripture and reading them continuously to allow the plain teaching of Scripture regarding that topic or word to impress itself on the reader. Biola's founders belonged to a generation that practiced this discipline self-consciously. Reuben Archer Torrey wrote a chapter about how to conduct Bible readings in his book How to Work for Christ ("Preparation and Delivery of Bible Readings").
