Slack describes its service as a collaboration hub that can replace email to help you and your team work together seamlessly. It's designed to support the way people naturally work together, so you can collaborate with people online as efficiently as you do face-to-face. Teams can communicate through pre-created channels, direct person-to-personal messages and with text or audio/video chat.

For more information about Slack, please see Slack's Feature List page.

1Start your meeting from a location or room which is going to have minimal background noise. Furthermore, if your meeting agenda includes topics that are confidential, you may prefer to sit in a private room.
2If possible use a good headset. If that isn’t an option, do your best to make sure you aren’t going to be adding a lot of noise to the meeting. You may need to turn off your fan, close a window or whatever else you have to do to keep your environment quiet. Sound quality matters – it is even more important than video quality.

Statement on Converting a Personal Zoom Account to a Biola-license

Faculty and staff that previously created a personal Zoom account using their Biola email address should be aware of a few ramifications before accepting a Biola-managed license.

    • Your personal Zoom account, contacts, and recordings will come under the management of Biola University.

    • Previously existing meetings in your account will be retained.

    • A few institutional settings are applied (link to settings) that may not have been in place on your personal account.

    • To preserve our limited licenses, Biola will need to retain your license if you ever leave the institution.

    • If you were ever to leave Biola as a faculty or staff member, Biola will retain ownership of your Zoom account and recordings. Also, Biola is not able to assist you with downloading personal recordings from your Biola licensed Zoom account.

If you need Zoom for personal reasons, we recommend that you create a personal Zoom account instead.
