Tips to Improve your Web Conferencing Experience

Tips to Improve your Web Conferencing Experience

Background (what's behind you)

Participants will see what is behind you. Choose a clean, distraction-free background, keep it plain and simple.

Camera & Perspective

  • Keep the camera at eye level. If you are using a laptop camera, raise it up.

  • Laptops and mobile device cameras have wide-angle lenses, they distort close up. We recommend sitting back from the camera.

  • If your laptop webcam is inadequate, contact IT to request one at it.helpdesk@biola.edu.

Lighting

  • Place light sources behind the camera, not behind you or to your side.

  • Adjust the light from lamps or windows.

Sound

  • Sound quality matters, it is even more important than video quality.

  • Find a location for your meetings that has minimal background noise.

  • For improved audio, use a good headset. If you need a headset, please contact us at it.helpdesk@biola.edu

  • Also -- don’t forget one of the critical rules, mute your microphone when listening, it helps everyone.
