Fall 2023 - IT Update to Students

Reminder to set up MFA for your Biola Account

This summer Biola IT changed how you will sign in to various Biola online web services. Instead of using your NetID, the new sign-in system, Microsoft Single Sign On (SSO), requires you to use your email address and multi-factor authentication (MFA). Ensure your Biola account MFA method is working by following the information below.

Many returning students will already have Microsoft MFA set up on your account, but it's still a good idea to check that your MFA method is working by signing in to myaccount.microsoft.com.

Important Information

1. Student Platforms now using Microsoft SSO

The login changes will affect various student platforms including: Canvas, Zoom, eAccounts, Gallagher Student Health, Biola Campus Store, and other student focused services. Please be aware that logging in will look different now, and you will be required to use the Microsoft SSO page to sign in.

For a full list of all Biola services using Microsoft SSO, see: Systems Using Microsoft Single Sign On (SSO).

2. New & Returning Students —  Setup MFA

We are advising new students to sign in to their Microsoft account and set up multi-factor authentication (MFA). Returning students should ensure MFA has been successfully set up. See our documentation for how to Log in Using Microsoft Azure Single Sign On (SSO) and how to Check/Set Up Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for Microsoft Azure Single Sign On (SSO).

Why do I need to set up Multi Factor Authentication?

Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) is one of the most effective tools for preventing unauthorized access to your technology accounts. Watch Microsoft’s video about what MFA is and why it is important.

3. What to do if MFA is not working, or you've forgotten your password.

4. eAccounts iOS/Android App Issues

Due to the move from NetID to Microsoft SSO, the eAccounts application on your smartphone will require you to add a new account to access. If you encounter any errors while signing in to the App, you can visit this FAQ page from the ID Card Office for directions on how to resolve it.
