Flexible workstations are office spaces designed to be shared by hybrid-remote employees and . They support either Apple Mac or Window Windows laptops. Connect with IT using the [Flexible Workstations Workstation Technology Request Form] to setup a flexible workstation in your department. IT will review your request and help you create a workspace that is equipped to meet the needs of your employees.

Flexible Workstations Best Practices
  • Coordinate with facilities to ensure that the office furniture is setup to support hybrid-remote employees.
  • Create workstations that are well equipped. Refrain from using old or inferior equipment.
  • Encourage employees to clean the keyboard and mouse at the beginning and end of their usage or to bring their own keyboard and mouse.
  • Provide power adapters at each workstation for the different types of computers in use. Both Dell and Apple have switched to USB-C power plugs in recent years.
  • Departments with USB-C Macbook users, please purchase an extra HDMI video adapters to lend out to employees when they forget their own. Adapters . Video adapters were provided to employees Macbook users when they received their computer, but they are regularly forgotten.
  • Encourage employees to use the lockdown kit provided with the laptop to secure the laptop it at the workstation. 
  • Use the wired Ethernet connection. Biola’s wireless is very good, but wireless connections are generally more susceptible to interference from other sources and are not as stable or fast as a wired connection
  • Departments can order isopropyl alcohol and dry wipes , or pre-moistened disinfecting wipes from Central Stores. Ensure that disinfecting wipes are not too wet when cleaning the keyboard.Contact IT if you have monitors, keyboards, or mice that you would like to repurpose towards a flexible workspacekeyboards and mice.

  • Do you have enough electrical outlets, adequate furniture, or wired networking port to accomidate your flexible workstations? If not, please indicate that you need these on the order form. Someone from Facilities Management and/or IT will contact you to set up the space.
