This page lists the steps to update your computer's Windows 10 operating system. It will take 30-45 minutes to complete, most of which you will be able to use your computer.

Note: Do not install any applications on your computer while you are upgrading your computer's OS as it may interfere with it's its ability to install.

Click here to check your computer for updates or manually open Windows Updates:

  1. Click the Start menu and click Settings.
  2. Search for and click on Check for Updates.
  3. Click the Check for updates button.

Click Settings.

Note: If you don't see Settings, you can search for it in the search text box.

Windows 10: Click the Update & Security button.

Windows 11: Click Windows Update.

Click Check for updates.

Note: Click Check for updates even if Windows initially says You're up to date.

Follow all on-screen prompts on the Windows Update window.

Note: You may be asked to click Install or Restart.


6After your computer's operating system has updated, repeat steps 1-5 until the Windows Update page says You're up to date even after clicking the Check for updates button.
