Actionable Item:

  • Faculty should request a Zoom account upgrade for course TAs that will host meetings with students or regularly perform cohost duties (manage participants or breakout rooms).

Implications:

  • TAs with a basic user license are unable to host meetings longer than 40 minutes when meeting with 2 or more participants.
  • Faculty are unable to assign cohost rights to TAs with a basic user license in advance of meetings and must do so during each meeting individually.

Actionable Item:

  • Faculty should list their desired Teacher's Assistant(s) as TAs in Canvas. To do this, please contact the office of Digital Learning by emailing digital.learning@biola.edu or calling (562) 903-4828.

Implication:

  • Biola IT will be creating meetings for each Spring 2021 course and associating them to their respective Canvas courses on January 20. At this time, TAs with a paid user license can be automatically listed as Alternative Hosts for the meeting giving them host/cohost rights automatically when they join the meeting.
  • Faculty will need to add TAs who are not formally recognized as a TA in Canvas by the morning of January 20 into their Zoom meetings manually.
