Introduction

This page explains how to enable Google 2-step verification for a Google workspace account.

Google 2-Step Verification adds an additional layer of protection by requiring, as Google says, something you know (your password) AND something you have (your mobile phone) to access your account from a new device. For more information about Google 2-Step Verification, please see Google 2-Step Verification for Biola.

Step 1: Ensure You're Logged in to Your Biola Email Account

StepWhat to do
1Open an Incognito, Private or InPrivate browser window.
2Go to gmail.com.
3

Log in using your Biola email address and password.

Step 2: Enable Google 2-Step Verification

StepWhat to do
1Go to Google's 2-Step Verification setup page and click GET STARTED.

2

Enter your password and click Next.

3

If asked to set up Google app prompt, click Show more options and select Text message or voice call.

Note:

  • You may use Google app prompt, but we recommend text or voice calling in case you do not have access to your Google app.

4Type your phone number in the phone number text box.

5Select Text message or Phone call.
6Click NEXT.
6Either open the text message or answer the phone call and retrieve the verification code.
7Enter the verification code in the text box and click NEXT.

8Click TURN ON.

9To add additional verification methods, see How to Configure a New Google 2-Step Verification Method.
