Cisco VoIP System for Departments
This spring IT is introducing a new phone system to the Biola campus based on Cisco’s Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. The new phone system includes Cisco VoIP handsets and voicemail, already purchased by the university for you and your team. The phone is new but many things about the system will remain familiar. The new phone system also brings many new features, including the option to use the Cisco Jabber app for receiving and placing calls from your computer. See more new features here and few highlights below.
Project Details
What to Expect:
- Project begins the first week of March and ends by December 2015. View the Project Calendar to see our schedule.
- IT will schedule deployment visits uniquely with each department.
- No more beige office phones.
- Your personal phone number / extension will not change.
- Switchboard, dispatch and automated attendant numbers remain the same.
- Cisco phones can call and receive calls from any university 4-digit extension, as well as place calls outside the university by dialing 9 + number.

- Search for contacts by name on the new phone, or using the new Biola web directory.
- Search for contacts, place & receive calls with Cisco Jabber on your computer.
- Interact with visual voicemail in Cisco Jabber on your computer.
- See presence status (available/on a call) of contacts on your phone and in Cisco Jabber.
- Use optional video conferencing with voice calls using Cisco Jabber.
