"Personal work" was a term used by nineteenth century evangelicals to refer to evangelism and spiritual counseling carried out by Christians.
Reuben Archer Torrey wrote several books about personal work, and Thomas Corwin Horton wrote one. The Bible Women specialized in personal work.
