Introduction

This page explains the contents of a small audio kit, available for rental from the Tech Commons in the Library.


Purpose

The Mackie 150 compact active PA speaker with the accompanying equipment we provide is ideal for smaller classroom settings, indoor events, and intimate outdoor events that require amplified speaking/singing. It is also possible to plug an acoustic guitar, keyboard, or computer/ipod directly into the system for musical accompaniment.

How to Set It Up

Plug in the provided power cord from the powered speaker to an outlet.

 

 

2Run an XLR cable from the provided microphone to an available input on the powered speaker.
3If desired, plug the provided auxiliary cable into the other available input on the main unit, then connect it to your laptop, iPod, phone, etc.

Audio Controls

  • Each input channel has independent Volume controls.
  • Channel 1 also has an instrument input button that makes it act like a DI box, where you can plug an instrument directly into the system.
  • There are also master Volume and EQ controls, and optional 48V of Phantom Power
