Introduction

This page explains the contents of a video recording kit, available to borrow from the Tech Commons in the Library.


Purpose

The Canon HD video camera (with included accessories) is ideal for filming events both as a mounted and handheld device.

  • Manfrotto Tripod
  • USB to Mini USB Cable
  • Camera Battery
  • Power Adapter
  • SD Card (Inserted in Camera)
  • HDMI to Mini HDMI Cable

How to Set It Up

1Set up the tripod by unclipping the legs and extending them.
2Unlatch the tripod mounting plate by pressing on the silver latch.

3Screw the plate onto the bottom of the video camera.

4Reattach the plate and video camera to the tripod.
5Open the side screen and the camera will turn on automatically.

Camera Functions

Record

Press the red and silver record button.

You should then see the red recording circle appear on the camera screen with a recording time readout.

View recorded videos

Click the play button on the side of the camera.

Navigate the menu of recorded videos (or “scenes” as the camera calls them) by using the touch screen.

Charge the battery

Plug in the provided power adapter to the side of the camera.

The battery should begin charging and you will see a red charging light.

Transfer videos to a computerPlug in the provided USB-to-Mini-USB cable.
Display on a TVOur video recording kit can be combined with our TV kit to project the camera’s captured image onto the TV screen with the provided HDMI-to-mini-HDMI cable.
