Western Association of Schools and Colleges

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), founded in 1949, is a non-profit accrediting organization, one of 6 regional organizations in the United States. The Western region includes California, Hawaii and southern pacific territories of the U.S., as well as East Asia. The WASC is responsible for accrediting all types of schools, including elementary and middle schools, high schools, junior colleges, and both public and private universities. WASC first accredited Biola College] in 1961. They continue to serve as the accrediting authority for Biola University; the last commission action occurred in 2006, and the next scheduled report is for 2011.
