Verner Pyhala is a graduate of Biola College and author of the autobiography God Led My Steps: The Life Story of the 13th Finnish Child (Xulon Press, 2004). Vern married Opal, also a student at Biola, and entered the ministry as an Evangelical Covenant pastor.
