Thomas Hannay, Jr.
Tom Hannay, known as "The Sky Pilot," took the gospel to Aqueduct workers. The King's Business for February 1910 reported that "Mojave has no church or other building of any kind (except the saloon) where the Aqueduct men can go for rest or to read, while waiting for the trains. Our Sky Pilot, Tom Hanney (sic), has raised the money for the building and will soon have a place where he can gather the men in comfortable quarters and give them the glorious Gospel of the Son of God."The King's Business, Vol. 1.2, February 1910, pg 31, http://www2.biola.edu/kingsbusiness/view/1/2/15
In July 1911, having graduated with the Institute's first graduating class, Hannay left the school to work with the California chapter of Christian Endeavor. The King's Business, Vol. 2.7, July 1911, pg 171, [ In 1912, the publication reports, "Tom Hannay, formerly our energetic Evangelish, now of the California State C. E., paid us a visit last month and reported that in 46 days he had held 180 meetings, including services in churches, Y.M.C.A. meetings, at Berkeley and Stanford Universities, shops and street services. Tom is a faithful servant doing business for the Lord. The King's Business], Vol. 3.1, January 1912, pg 23, http://www2.biola.edu/kingsbusiness/view/3/1/23
It is unknown at this time how old Thomas was, but the Alumni Register published in 1926 reports him as deceased, so he only lived, at most, fifteen years after his graduation from the Institute.1926 Biola Alumni Annual, Biola Library Archives, pg 28
