About four years after graduating in 1917, Marion was "ordained to the Baptist ministry by Calvary Church, Los Angeles, Feb. 8. In addition to his shop work with the Institute, he is pastor of the Union Church, San Gabriel, Calif."The King's Business, Vol. 12.5, May 1921, pg 445

He kept with these ministries, in the first yearbook a letter from Marion is quoted :
"We are still engaged in the shop work of the Bible Institute, and as pastor of the San Gabriel Mission. Many blessings have come to us through our association with the Institute and its many friends. We can truly say, 'Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.
