William E. Blackstone (1841-1935) was the first dean of the Bible Institute. A prominent layperson in the Methodist Episcopal Church, he was most famous as the author of Jesus is Coming and the Blackstone Declaration. In 1965 he was posthumously honored by the State of Israel with the establishment of the Blackstone Forest on Mt. Herzl.
