Dean's Responsibilities

Supervise the English, history/government/social sciences, Modern Languages, Philosophy, and Sociology departments and the Torrey Honors Institute, comprising about 600 major students along with much of the University's undergraduate general education core.

Past and Current Dean

Todd Pickett served at the Dean of Humanities and Social Science Department for nine years. The position was vacant for almost a year with the final two candidates being Aaron Kleist, associate professor and chair of the English department, and Cassandra Van Zandt, assistant professor of English. Cassandra Van Zandt was chosen as the new Dean in Spring 2009.
