Olive Grove Park

The Olive Grove Park was a $525,000 preservation project, according to the winter 2008 edition of Biola Magazine. It called for landscaping the only remaining sacred ground of McNally’s famous olive groves, with “rustic walk paths and irrigation systems to keep the trees healthy.” Biola’s Parent Relations marketed the idea of the grove as a place to commune with God, and successfully conducted a campaign to acquire a new donor base – parents who already pay their kids’ tuition – to construct a “beautiful footbridge” so students can cross over to this “historic spot on campus ... to reflect.” The City of La Mirada designated Biola’s Olive Grove Park as a historic landmark because the 60 trees there make the last grove in the entire city. Mark winter of the parent council said at the dedication, "Make an appointment not just with a tree, but with the creator of all the trees."
