Project Specifications
The syllabus for the oral history class, conducted in fall 2006, says: The Biola University Centennial Committee is interested in gathering oral histories for the upcoming celebration. This collection of 100th anniversary oral histories will be done chiefly by Biola students. Students chosen to participate in this process will receive both course credit and a modest stipend.
Students will receive training in the methodology and techniques of oral history and then carry out background research, conduct fieldwork interviews, and transcribe audio-visual tapes. Although grounded in scholarship, the oral histories being done are designed to accommodate the “real world” needs of the upcoming anniversary celebrations.
