Robert Harkness

Robert Harkness (1880-1961) was a musician who traveled with Reuben Archer Torrey and Charles Alexander as Alexander's piano accompanist. Torrey and Alexander met then 22-year old Harkness in Bendigo, Australia, during the beginning of their world travels as a mission team. Harkness had been hired as the accompanist for the mission there and came from a Christian family, even though he himself had not yet come to know Christ. Alexander made a special point to talk to the young man about his spiritual life and bring him to a decision for Christ, which Harkness at first resented. The same night, as Harkness was riding his bike back home from the meetings, he gave his life to Christ. Harkness then became Alexander's pianist and traveled with Torrey and Alexander all over the world for twelve years as their partner in ministry. He wrote the book Reuben Archer Torrey___the Man... His Message
