About Remote Access with VPN

Introduction

Biola’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) service allows employees and students to access on-campus services like Files, WebDev, and printers from off campus.

A VPN also creates a safe and encrypted connection while using any network. You should always use a VPN when using public or untrusted WiFi.

Biola VPN access requires the Cisco AnyConnect software to be installed and uses multifactor authentication. All staff and faculty are eligible to use this service once they accept the following service agreement during the login process. Student eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis.

VPN Service Agreement

About	This Agreement is between you and Biola University and applies to your use of the University’s virtual private network (VPN) service. You must read, agree with and accept all of the terms and conditions contained in this Agreement in order to use the service. Those who do not agree and proceed to use the service are subject to VPN account termination.
Purpose	The purpose of the VPN service is to provide a means for employees, students, and vendors to access enterprise resources (such as Files, WebDev, etc.) available only on the Biola network. A VPN also creates a safe and encrypted connection to the Biola network from any unsecured network.
Service Management	The VPN service is managed by Information Technology and use of this service must comply with the Network Usage Policy.
Eligibility	To be eligible for the VPN service you must be a Biola employee or authorized student or vendor.
Use of the Service	A VPN account is provided for your sole use and you must keep your account password a secret. All resources made available to you, including client software and configuration information, is for your use only and is not to be shared with anyone. Access given to you through your VPN account is non-transferable and you are responsible for all communications performed using your VPN account. If you learn of any security breach related to the service or your account, you must notify Information Technology immediately.
