How to Import Google Contacts into Microsoft Outlook
Introduction
This page explains the steps for importing (or "migrating") your Google contacts list into Outlook. This applies to Windows PC users.
This procedure is useful for those who use Outlook to access their Google email (Gmail).

1 | Go in to your Biola Gmail (via web browser). | |
2 | Click on the Mail menu, and select Contacts. This opens your Google Contacts. | |
3 | Click on the More button and select Export.... | |
4 | Select the radio button for The group. | |
5 | Click on the drop-down menu to select the group you want to migrate. | |
6 | Select the Outlook CSV radio button. | |

How to Import the CSV file into Outlook

1 | In Outlook, open the People section (Ctrl+3). | |
2 | Right-click on Contacts and select New Folder Group. | |
3 | Name the folder appropriately. | |
4 | Select Contacts from the folder tree. | |
5 | Click OK. | |
6 | Open the File menu, and select Open & Export. | |
7 | Select Import/Export. | |
8 | Select Import from another program or file from the list. | |
9 | Click Next. | |
10 | Select Comma Separated Values from the list. | |
11 | Click Next. | |
12 | In the Browse window, go to the location of the .csv file that you exported from Google Contacts. | |
13 | Select the .csv file, and click OK. | |
14 | Select Replace duplicates with items imported. | |
15 | Click Next. | |
16 | Select the folder you created as the destination folder. | |
17 | Click Next. | |
18 | Click Finish to complete the import. | |
NOTE | You should now have a folder under My Contacts that contains the list of contacts that you exported from Gmail. |
How to Create a Contact Group in Outlook
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |

1 | In Outlook, open the People section (Ctrl+3). | |
2 | Click on the New Contact Group button under the Home tab. | |
3 | Double-click in the empty list of contacts. This will open the Select Members window. | |
4 | From the Address Book menu, select the folder that you created earlier. The contacts in that folder should show in the pane below. | |
5 | Press Ctrl+A to select all contacts in the folder. | |
6 | Click the Members button to add all selected contacts to the members field. | |
7 | Click OK. The Contact Group should now be populated. | |
8 | Name the contact group appropriately. | |
9 | Click Save & Close to save the contact group. | |
NOTE | Your contact group should now appear in your Contacts list. |
How to Email a Contact Group in Outlook
Step | What to Do | How It Looks |

1 | Open the Mail section of Outlook (Ctrl+1). | |
2 | Click the New Email button to compose a new message. | |
3 | In the To field, you can start typing the name of a contact group, and it should pop up in the suggestion window. | |
4 | Click the suggestion or finish typing the name of the contact group, and hit Enter. |
