How to Access the Blackboard Transact Applications


Citrix Workspace Being Decommissioned

Citrix Workspace will be decommissioned at the end of April 2023. Please use the following method to access the Blackboard Transact applications going forward and contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance.

Introduction

This page explains how to access the Blackboard Transact tools that were previously hosted on Citrix Workspace, on both Windows PCs and MacOS devices, using the bbinstall.ad.biola.edu server as a new location to host the applications.

Note: To connect to the applications from off campus, you'll first need to connect to Biola's network using VPN. You must also make sure that you have access to the Transact applications by being in either of the following access.biola.edu groups. If you are not in either of these groups you must contact Janice Ju in Auxilliary Services, or if you are in Campus Safety, contact Jason Camorlinga:

Instructions for Windows PC users


How to Connect to BBINSTALL.ad.biola.edu on a Windows PC

1Open the Windows File Explorer.

2Right-click on This PC, and select Map Network Drive.

When prompted, enter the following address in the Folder field:

\\bbinstall.ad.biola.edu\workstation

NOTE:
When connecting on a non-Biola owned machine (e.g. Bon Appetit), you must check the "Connect using different credentials" box and enter
biola\<NetID>
in the username field.

Click Finish.

Click on the App Shortcuts folder

Select the application you need to use



How to Sign In to Transact Applications

When the Transact application window appears, for the Web API Server FQDN enter:

bbapp.ad.biola.edu

For the User Name and Password, enter your Transact username and password.

How to Disconnect from the Files Server on a Windows PC

Open the Windows File Explorer.

Click on This PC, then right-click on the bbinstall.ad.biola.edu server and select Disconnect Network Drive.

How to connect to bbinstall.ad.biola.edu on a Mac

Note: These instructions require Microsoft Remote Desktop to be installed. Instructions on how to install it can be found here: Install Microsoft Remote Desktop on a Biola-Owned Mac

Open Microsoft Remote Desktop.

Click the "+" drop-down menu and select "Add PC"

3Enter bbinstall.ad.biola.edu in the "PC Name:" field, and click "Add"

4Double-click the icon for the newly added server.

You'll be prompted to enter your credentials. Enter "BIOLA\<netID>" and then your password.

Click "Continue" to connect to the bbinstall.ad.biola.edu server.


How to launch the Blackboard Transact Tools While Using Microsoft Remote Desktop

On the desktop, double-click on the "App Shortcuts" folder


Note:
The folder on the desktop is a copy of the folder found
at the following path:

E:\Workstation\App Shortcuts

If for any reason the "App Shortcuts" folder on the desktop is
not there, you can find the folder at the path above.

Launch the application you need to use.
