Basic Wireless Mic Troubleshooting


Introduction

These steps should ensure that the basic set up and functionality of a room's wireless receiver and wireless mic pack are set properly. This will often be engaged as a result of an active incident in a classroom.



Basic Wireless Mic Troubleshooting

1Power on the wireless receiver.
  • If the wireless receiver is not able to power on, confirm the power cable is plugged into the back of it.
  • If the power cable is plugged in and the wireless receiver is not able to power on, call the IT Helpdesk for assistance at 4740.
2Plug in the audio (XLR or 1/4") cable into the back of the wireless receiver.
  • If the audio cable is not able to plug in, or you don't have the right cable, call the IT Helpdesk for assistance at 4740.

Check that the wireless receiver is displaying the correct frequency (MHz) or group and channel on its LCD screen.

Note: The correct frequency (MHz) or group and channel is located on a label on the top of the wireless receiver.

  • If the wireless receiver is not displaying the correct frequency (MHz) or group and channel on its LCD screen, call the IT Helpdesk for assistance.
4Check that the wireless receiver doesn't display the word Mute on the LCD screen.
  • If the wireless receiver does display the word Mute on the LCD screen, toggle the Mute switch on the wireless mic pack.
5Power on the wireless mic pack.
  • If the wireless mic pack is not able to power on, swap out the batteries with new batteries out of the original packaging.
  • If the wireless mic pack is not able to power on after you've replaced the batteries, call the IT Helpdesk for assistance.
6Check that the headpiece is securely connected to the wireless mic pack.
  • If the XLR cable is plugged in, proceed to the next step.
  • If the XLR cable is not plugged in, plug it in.

Check that the wireless mic pack is displaying the correct frequency (MHz) or group and channel on its LCD screen.

Note: The correct frequency (MHz) or group and channel is located on a label towards the top of the wireless mic pack.

  • If the wireless mic pack is not displaying the correct frequency (MHz) or group and channel on its LCD screen, call the IT Helpdesk for assistance.
